So Much to Do in So Little Time

july29-front-body-kit

Drilled, cut and aligned new bumper and AITracing side skirts on the S13.5. Time to paste on decals once I receive the stickers I ordered from Steve @ S & A designs. He is prompt with my requests and the decals are of quality work for a cool price.

july29-side-skirts

It’s easier to measure the old mounting holes on the AIT side skirts and to copy that measurement onto the new one. It’s so much more convenient to have a light weight side skirt.

The mounting points on the front fender cracked completely. So, I got fiberglass and resin to make it twice as strong. All it needs now is to be buffed on the exterior of the fender.

july29th-quarter-panel-gunrivet

Riveting the AIT quarter panel after getting it painted at SAM’S Auto Land. I ended up using a rag around the rivet gun, just incase it slips and scratches the panel.

Make sure to use blue masking tape to protect areas where it will rub during the installation.

Kevin Wells (of LS Auto andCFR’s crew chief) wireing up and adjusting the APEXi ACVR. Thank you very much Bro! Now the S13.5 will have a consistant boost on the top portion of the power band.

Thank you Sergio Ramirez (pit crew member of CFR) for mounting the APEXi AVCR hardware.

july29-sergio-tire-mount1

Mounting fresh MAXXIS Z1 drifting tires on the Ti5 wheels. It’s a good habit to be prepared ahead of time before each F.D. round.

Tuning at APEXi’s facility. Thank you Kevin for the tune, Chuck for setting up the dyno paks/support and all the APEXi gang! We ran the T28 71 turbo with a stock manifold and didn’t produce enough power. So  we’ll be installing a brand new TOMEI ARMS turbo, manifold, up pipe, and differential.

Still got so many things to do on my list. It’s going to be really busy before I take off to Monroe, WA for Formula Drift Round 5! I’ll keep you all posted on www.twitter.com/joonmaeng  Can’t wait to drive on my favorite track. Evergreen Speedway here we come!

Running Around

july26th-sams

Picked up AIT racing panels with fresh paint at SAM’S Auto Land Friday morning. Jim, (left) Tony (middle) and George (right) are always working hard for Sam! Very thankful to have all the amazing guys at SAM’S supporting my S13.5! Couldn’t look sharp without their awesome paint and body work.

july-26-ait

Picked up more spare AIT racing panels Friday morning! Thanks you Patrick, Gus (in the picture) and the AIT gang! Also picked up new Ti5 wheels at SEIBON since they are nearby. Afterwards, went to D.U.S to work and then went off to VBS to organize a good program for the kids.

Vacation Bible Study weekend @ InJoy Han Mi Ministry Friday 4 P.M. to Sunday 3 P.M. The theme comes from the book of Exodus. All the students had an awesome time with Bible study, crafts, activities, hand motion praise, and worship. As a teacher for VBS there are many things to organize.  All the leaders/teachers and I  got a total of 4 hours of sleep this past weekend.

july-26th-vbs1

It was a blessing and a previlage to serve as a teacher for VBS this past weekend! Went to CFR right after VBS to work on the S13.5. Looking forward to Seattle! One of my favorite tracks!

Kevin Lee @ Nexus Visuals and Andrew Hwang @ GENIUS Tools supporting me during the Vegas weekend.

july-23-2

Received a new fuel pump and spark plugs from Enjuku racing. My current fuel pump was about a year old, so I decided to replace it with a fresh pump. Today, July 23rd, I went to Apexi and received the AVCR electronic boost controller. The guys at Apexi are always supporting me as much as they can. I also got to take a tour around GENIUS Tools warehouse in Ontario. If anyone needs tools GENIUS Tools is the way to go.

july-23-post

Drilled out the rivets of the damaged AITRacing panels and will be picking up the new panels @ SAM’S Auto Land tomorrow with fresh paint. Car should be ready in no time.

Hard Work is Needed

vegas-2009-smokeThanks to Sergio Ramirez @ CFR ( http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/ramirezsergiosr?hiq=sergio&__a=1 ) for bringing his personal spare turbo setup I was able to run Friday and Saturday smoking up the amazing Maxxis Tires! Sergio and Kevin @ www.LSauto.com helped me Thursday night to install the new setup after I blew my old turbo very quickly using awesome GENIUS Tools. It was from the metal debris that went through the old turbo when the engine blew in New Jersey. It was still strong enough to run on the dyno and couple practice runs but Sergio, Kevin, and I knew it was coming sooner than later. I’ll be getting another phenomenal TOMEI turbo soon! Any time an engine blows and there is metal debris in the turbo mean that the turbo needs a rebuild or to be replaced. No matter how good the turbo it is will eventually give out. I’m always learning something new in drifting. I highly respect them for working so hard on Drift Alliance Bro Chris Forsberg’s ( www.ChrisForsberg.com ) Maxxis Z33 convertable! You can always find Chris working hard @ CFR!

 sams-july-151

Found D.A. Bro Justin Pawlak  ( www.JustinPawlak.com ) working hard at SAM’S Auto Land! SAM’S auto body & paint specialist now sells pre-owned vehicles. The prices on the vehicles are low and I can see them having good sales in the future! Especially with Justin talking to many of the customers! He is a friendly and an awesome dude!

Jim @ SAM’S Auto Land ( www.samsautolandonline.com ) is always respectful and working hard! We all appreciate Sam’s team! They do an amazing job every time!
