Up & Running

july-1-comprssson

Good compression, the engine is in healthy condition. Been working on the car since two days ago for 35 hours straight at CFR. Good times. :)

july-1-oil

Ran the car with a stock turbo and an oil pan for 20 minutes. Spillage due to one extra quart. Allowed it to idle and revved it a little bit once it was warm. Drained oil, replaced K&N filter, added fresh oil and repeated this step two more times.

While the engine is still hot, drain oil, drop oil pan, baffle, pick up oil, flush the TOMEI cams and timing chain with some fresh oil. It’s a bad habit of mine to be a clean freak when it comes to cars. This step is not necessary, but it doesn’t hurt to do so.

july-turbo-side

Took out the stock T-25 turbo and installed my current TOMEI arms turbo. Found lots of metal particles in the exhaust manifold and turbo outlet pipe. Used Chris Forsberg’s heavy duty vacuum cleaner and it sucked out all the particles. This turbo is tough! It’s in excellent condition!

july-valve

Cleaning is time consuming! Have to get it done so that it will perform well and be on its tip top shape.

july-knuckle-blood

Busted my knuckle pretty good while working on the engine. Here is my fair share of blood so, now, literally, I put my sweat, tears, and blood into my car. Good thing CFR has a first aid kit!

july-hoses

A better choice to shorten the h2O pipe line on the back side of the motor so it will be positioned on the side. After running the car, let it cool down and drain out the water once again to make sure it’s clean. If it’s still dirty repeat the process until it is clean.

july-finish Yay! The car started after the new pulley that LSauto.com provided was replaced and it sounds great! It started up right away and has good response. Now it’s time to have it tuned! Working on the car 35 hours straight was totally worth it! It feels good to have a running car once again! Vegas here we come!
